CLINTON, Miss. --- Spring sports seniors across the nation had their collegiate careers cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A time-honored tradition across all athletic departments is to celebrate "Senior Day" by recognizing each of the members of their senior class for their efforts while a part of their program.
At Mississippi College, we wanted to let each one of our spring sports student-athletes have their own "Senior Day" to thank them for their time as Choctaws and Lady Choctaws. Their contributions to their teams and the athletic department will always be remembered.
DAVIS MURPHY --- GOLF
A native of Buckeye, Ariz.,
Davis Murphy has been a four-year contributor for the Choctaws and has enjoyed his best season on the course as a senior.
"Davis has been a leader for MC Golf for the last four years," said head coach
Ethan Doan. "He came in as an elite freshman and ended his career as one of our best seniors. His game and sense of humor will be missed, but I know Davis has a bright future after his time at MC."
In the Choctaws' five tournaments in 2019-20, Davis was MC's top finisher in two (Derral Foreman Invite (DSU) and Matt Dyas Invite (UWG)). He fired a low-round of 67 at the Matt Dyas Invite's opening round and his best tournament score of the season came at the MC Spring Invite with a 215 (-1) as the MC had their best team finish of the year in 2nd.
Davis is majoring in Entrepreneurship and is the son of Doug and Karen Murphy.
Every day for the next five weeks, we will recognize a senior for their contributions on and off the field for their respective programs. The baseball, softball, golf, tennis and track & field programs will all be represented in alphabetical order, regardless of sport.
