Choctaw Senior Spotlight: Justin Jackson (Track & Field)

CLINTON, Miss. --- Spring sports seniors across the nation had their collegiate careers cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A time-honored tradition across all athletic departments is to celebrate "Senior Day" by recognizing each of the members of their senior class for their efforts while a part of their program.

At Mississippi College, we wanted to let each one of our spring sports student-athletes have their own "Senior Day" to thank them for their time as Choctaws and Lady Choctaws. Their contributions to their teams and the athletic department will always be remembered.

JUSTIN JACKSON --- TRACK & FIELD

A native of Byram, Miss., Justin Jackson didn't have to look far when he wanted to continue his collegiate career. Jackson made his way to Mississippi College after transferring from Mississippi Valley State University.

"Always ready, always reliable, always willing, Justin has been a go-to guy for the past four years," said head coach Matthew Reneker. "I often found myself pointing out Mr. Jackson to underclassmen when I wanted them to see a true team player committed to the cause and ending most of his sentences with "I'll do whatever it takes, Coach."

Jackson competed in the 55 meters, 60 meters, 100 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters during his time at Mississippi College. He recorded a pair of collegiate best in the final meet of the season in the 100 and 200. He added a collegiate best during the indoor season in the 60 meters at the Samford Clash earlier this winter. He garnered a pair of collegiate best last season in the 55 meters and 400 meters which earned him USTFCCCA All-South Region accolades.

A Mississippi College graduate with a degree in communications, he is the son of Evelyn and Gary Jackson.

Every day for the next five weeks, we will recognize a senior for their contributions on and off the field for their respective programs. The baseball, softball, golf, tennis and track & field programs will all be represented in alphabetical order, regardless of sport.
