CLINTON, Miss. --- Spring sports seniors across the nation had their collegiate careers cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A time-honored tradition across all athletic departments is to celebrate "Senior Day" by recognizing each of the members of their senior class for their efforts while a part of their program.
At Mississippi College, we wanted to let each one of our spring sports student-athletes have their own "Senior Day" to thank them for their time as Choctaws and Lady Choctaws. Their contributions to their teams and the athletic department will always be remembered.
MORGAN BRADFORD --- SOFTBALL
A native of McDonough, Ga.,
Morgan Bradford started all 81 games at second base over two seasons with the Lady Choctaws after transferring from Southern Union State Community College.
"Mo is a fighter," said head coach
Brooke O'Hair. "She's a spark plug who's energy is contagious on the field. She's one of the best second basemen that I've ever had the privilege to coach, and she makes everything look so easy.
"Mo, thanks for choosing MC and allowing me to be your coach," O'Hair went on. "You made my job easy. I loved watching you grow as a person and as a player in this program. The middles won't be the same without you. I can't wait to see what your future holds. I will miss you even if you did steal some of my Diet Mountain Dews during games."
Bradford was as sure-handed as they come in the infield, making just six errors and posting a .981 fielding percentage over two seasons, including going all of 2020 without making an error. She also hit .316 with 12 doubles and four home runs over two seasons, including pounding three home runs with six doubles this season.
The second-year player was a First Team All-Gulf South Conference selection in 2019, helping lead the Lady Choctaws to a school-record 40 wins and a trip to the NCAA Division II South Regional. She was also a Second Team All-Region honoree by NFCA and D2CAA while also being a member of the GSC Academic Honor Roll.
Bradford is a Kinesiology major and is the daughter of Doug and Connie Bradford.
"Morgan was a gritty player," said assistant coach
Leigh Streetman. "Whatever the task at hand was, she was finding a way to get it done.
"From JUCO to MC, you found a way to get the job done," Streetman went on. "Your spunk and heart for the game will always be remembered. Thank you for choosing MC, and for your dedication to this program for two years."
Every day for the next five weeks, we will recognize a senior for their contributions on and off the field for their respective programs. The baseball, softball, golf, tennis and track & field programs will all be represented in alphabetical order, regardless of sport.
PREVIOUS HONOREES:
Garret Ainsworth,
Grant Barber
