CLINTON, Miss. --- Spring sports seniors across the nation had their collegiate careers cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A time-honored tradition across all athletic departments is to celebrate "Senior Day" by recognizing each of the members of their senior class for their efforts while a part of their program.
At Mississippi College, we wanted to let each one of our spring sports student-athletes have their own "Senior Day" to thank them for their time as Choctaws and Lady Choctaws. Their contributions to their teams and the athletic department will always be remembered.
Â
GRANT BARBERÂ ---Â BASEBALL
A native of Mobile, Ala.,
Grant Barber has made his impression on the Mississippi College baseball program over the course of four seasons.
"If I had one word to describe Grant it would be consistent. He has been the same guy both on and off the field for four seasons," said head coach
Jeremy Haworth. "We will miss his strong leadership, hard work and dedication to this program. I want to thank him for his commitment to the MC baseball program."
Barber has excelled on and off the field during his time. He is a two-time All-Gulf South Conference performer, a member of the 2018 GSC All-Academic Team and three-time GSC Academic Honor Roll selection. He finishes his four-year career ranked among the program leaders in five offensive categories (at-bats, hits, games played, runs and doubles).
He is a Secondary Education major with an emphasis in Social Studies and the son of Jana and former Choctaw, Doug Barber.
Â
Every day for the next five weeks, we will recognize a senior for their contributions on and off the field for their respective programs. The baseball, softball, golf, tennis and track & field programs will all be represented in alphabetical order, regardless of sport.
