CLINTON, Miss. --- Spring sports seniors across the nation had their collegiate careers cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A time-honored tradition across all athletic departments is to celebrate "Senior Day" by recognizing each of the members of their senior class for their efforts while a part of their program.
At Mississippi College, we wanted to let each one of our spring sports student-athletes have their own "Senior Day" to thank them for their time as Choctaws and Lady Choctaws. Their contributions to their teams and the athletic department will always be remembered.
KENDAL DANIELS --- SOFTBALL
A native of Hattiesburg, Miss.,
Kendal Daniels spent the last two seasons at Mississippi College after transferring from Nicholls following a standout career at Oak Grove HS.
"Kendal is one of the hardest workers I've ever coached," said head coach
Brooke O'Hair. "She has a tremendous amount of talent and passion for the game. More importantly, she pours her heart into this team and especially her teammates. She makes everyone around her better.
"Kendal, thanks for giving me an opportunity coach you," O'Hair went on. "To witness your growth as a person is something that I will always be thankful for. You're a special young lady that will do great things in life. You will be missed."
Kendal played in 38 games with 17 starts, including making 16 starts as a designated player and first baseman in 2020. She hit three career home runs with three doubles, including a two-home run contest in a win over Miles last season. Daniels was also named to the Gulf South Conference Academic Honor Roll last season.
"Kendal invested in her teammates and into herself to grow and get better every single day," said assistant coach
Leigh Streetman.
"Your work ethic is contagious and something every program needs more of," Streetman went on. "Thank you for giving everything you had to this game, university and program for two years."
The Kinesiology major is the daughter of Tracy and Kim Daniels.
Every day for the next five weeks, we will recognize a senior for their contributions on and off the field for their respective programs. The baseball, softball, golf, tennis and track & field programs will all be represented in alphabetical order, regardless of sport.
