A three-time All-Academic selection and twice named to the All-Conference Team, Brown served as captain of the MC football team in 1978. Though initially recruited for football, he excelled as a pitcher and an infielder on MC’s baseball team. After graduating from MC, he embarked on a successful 20-year career with General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) and later established Brown and Associates Automobile Recovery Agency, the first African American-owned automobile recovery agency in Mississippi.
