CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College placed 13 student-athletes on the 2025 Gulf South Conference Spring All-Academic Teams, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
The Choctaws' 13 selections tied for the second-most in the conference alongside West Florida, trailing only Lee University's 17 honorees. The All-Academic Teams recognize student-athletes who have excelled in both the classroom and in athletic competition.
Mississippi College was represented across six sports: baseball, softball, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's outdoor track & field.
Junior Logan Shurden of the baseball team was named to the All-Academic Team with a 3.92 GPA in Exercise Science. In softball, juniors Madelyn England (Administration of Justice, 3.60 GPA) and Shelby Samples (Exercise Science, 3.80 GPA) earned spots on the list.
Men's tennis standouts Alex Benichou Blanchard (Sports Management, 3.30 GPA) and Rafael Sabio (Computer Science, 3.74 GPA) were honored, while women's tennis was represented by seniors Anna Hudson (Public Health, 3.88 GPA) and Emma Roberts (Business Administration, 3.80 GPA).
Men's outdoor track & field led the way for the Choctaws with four selections: Cole Benoit (Strategic Communications, 4.00 GPA), Oliver Ollesch (Computer Science, 3.33 GPA), Matias Vasquez (Kinesiology, 3.54 GPA), and Evan Wrights (Biology Medical Sciences, 3.67 GPA). On the women's side, Livia Fischer (English, 3.89 GPA) and Hilary Udechukwu (Political Science – Pre-Legal, 3.71 GPA) rounded out MC's list of honorees.
To be eligible for the GSC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA, be a significant contributor to their team, and have spent at least one year at their institution.
