CLINTON, Miss. — After more than two decades of dedicated service,
Kevin Johns has officially closed his chapter as head coach of Mississippi College men's soccer, wrapping up a remarkable 22-year tenure as the program's all-time winningest coach.
Johns leaves behind a legacy defined by consistent excellence, program-building, and personal investment in the lives of student-athletes. He guided the Choctaws to more than 220 career wins, conference championships, three regular season conference championships, and four Coach of the Year honors across three different leagues.
In his farewell message, Johns shared his deep appreciation for the university and those who supported him along the way.
"I'm so thankful for my time at Mississippi College and for being the head men's soccer coach at MC for 22 years. It has been a pleasure to be a part of this athletic program at MC. MC Athletics will always have a special place in my heart and be a part of my family.
"I want to take some time to thank Coach Kenny Bizot, Coach Susan Musselwhite and Coach Mike Jones. Their leadership of MC Athletics has been a blessing to me and to all of MC Athletics. I also was blessed with many great assistant coaches during my time at MC—thanks to each and every one of them.
"Most importantly, I want to thank the athletes that I had the pleasure to coach and get to know while at MC. All the success we had was down to having great players, but even better young men in our program. They are the people I will miss the most. The relationships and friendships have been truly special inside MC men's soccer.
"Lastly, thanks to my family—Emily and Davis Johns. You two have made my life more enjoyable, and I look forward to spending more time with my family and being present in this next chapter of our life.
"Go Choctaws."
Athletic Director Kenny Bizot expressed his gratitude for Johns' years of dedication and leadership.
"Kevin Johns gave his heart and soul to Mississippi College for more than two decades," Bizot said. "He built a program that competed at the highest level, but more importantly, he helped shape the lives of so many young men. His legacy here is lasting, and we are thankful for all he's done for MC."
Johns led the Choctaws to a 12-2-3 record and an undefeated mark in Gulf South Conference play in 2023, capturing the GSC regular season title. He followed that with an 8-5-3 finish in 2024. Over his career, his teams were consistent contenders in the postseason, with 15 double-digit win seasons and deep runs in ASC, GSC, NCAA, and NCCAA competition.
