WINTER PARK, Fla. — Mississippi College (15-3-4, 9-0-2) fell to Rollins (13-4-5, 5-2-3) with a final score of 5-1 on Saturday at Cahall Sandspur Field and Barker Family Stadium. Despite managing 15 shots, The Blue and Gold could only find the back of the net once, while Rollins capitalized on their opportunities with five goals. This match marked the end of MC's impressive run, as they had advanced all the way to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament this season.
The match began with Mississippi College taking an early lead when
Sergio Garrido scored in the 11th minute, assisted by
Gage Sorey and
Daniel Richards. Rollins quickly responded, equalizing in the 17th minute with a goal by Finlay Prain, assisted by Michel Hoelscher and Kaden Foreman. Rollins then took over the momentum, with Pablo Herrero scoring in the 26th minute, followed by Justin Nelson and Hayden Judge adding to the tally in the 30th and 32nd minutes, respectively. MC was unable to answer, and the first half ended with Rollins leading 4-1.
Rollins extended their lead early in the second half with a goal by Herrero in the 56th minute, making the score 5-1. Mississippi College's
Cole Turner made a crucial save in the 49th minute off a shot by Prain, keeping the deficit from increasing further at that moment. MC managed several attempts on goal, with
Russell Berko and
Patrick Vukoje forcing saves from Rollins' goalkeeper, Kilian Vallant. Despite these efforts, the period ended without additional scoring from The Blue and Gold, leaving the final score at 5-1 in favor of Rollins.
