CLINTON, Miss. --- In a special moment and ceremony, the Mississippi College Lady Choctaws officially signed center striker, Gabby Buford, as the reigning GSC Champions pick up her signature in a big way. Gabby's journey to becoming a key member of this championship-winning team is nothing short of inspiring. Her path to the Lady Choctaws is not just about soccer but a testament to her strength, unwavering faith, and the incredible bond she's forged with her new teammates.
At just 12 years old, Gabby has been diagnosed with Midline Glioma. But Gabby has never been one to let adversity define her. With unwavering courage, she embarked on a journey filled with hope, positivity, and an unshakable faith in the Lord.
Gabby lives with her loving family, including her mom, Kimberly, her dad, David, and her three younger brothers, Gavin, Grayson, and Graham. Described by her family as a pure joy, positive, strong, and encouraging, Gabby has an infectious spirit that touches everyone she meets.
Soccer was not just a game for Gabby; it was a passion. As a center striker, she displayed immense talent on the field, and her parents, David and Kimberly, had dreams of her playing college soccer. Her father, David, remarked, "Soccer has been such a big part of her life. She was a phenomenal soccer player, one to where I could have seen her playing college soccer, so this has truly been a dream come true for her."
And a dream did come true for Gabby, but in an unexpected way. The Lady Choctaws soccer program welcomed her with open arms, making her a part of their team through the organization Team IMPACT. The players didn't just open their hearts; they enveloped her with love and support, demonstrating what it truly means to be a team.
Her mother, Kimberly, expressed her gratitude, saying, "A lot of emotions, this has been so special, it means so much. We definitely saw soccer in her future, so to have this for her has been truly amazing." The Lady Choctaws soccer girls weren't just teammates; they became her sisters. They wrote her cards, kept in touch with her throughout everything, and made her feel like she belonged.
On signing day, as Gabby sat around, talking and listening to stories with her new teammates, she found inspiration in their camaraderie. Through it all, Gabby held onto her unshakeable faith. With a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye, she declared, "Continue to give God everything, no matter what." Her unwavering belief in the Lord has been a beacon of hope and inspiration to everyone she encounters.
Welcome to the Lady Choctaws program, Gabby, and congratulations to the Lady Choctaws on picking up this year's top recruit. Gabby's journey reminds us all that with faith, courage, and a supportive team, we can overcome any challenge life throws our way. Her story is a testament to the power of love, faith, and hope we have in Jesus. Gabby, you're not just a soccer player; you're an inspiration to us all.
