The Gulf South Conference announced its women's soccer weekly award winners for Week 8 (Oct. 16-22) of the 2023 season with Mississippi College's Makayla Hernandez being named the GSC Player of the Week following her performances for the weekend.

Hernandez played a crucial role in Mississippi College's 1-0-1 record over the weekend. In an impressive 13-0 win over Shorter on Friday, the senior recorded a hat trick, scoring three goals on six shots. Additionally, she provided an assist. In the 1-1 draw with Lee on Sunday, Hernandez tallied two shots, with one shot on goal, contributing to the team's performance.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Maciah Lipsey, Gr., GK, West Florida
 
Lipsey led West Florida to a 2-0 record over the weekend after recording two shutouts. Against West Georgia, the graduate student recorded two saves without allowing a goal in the 4-0 win. In the 1-0 win over Valdosta State, Lipsey recorded two saves.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Lainey Farabaugh, Fr., F, Montevallo

Farabaugh helped lead Montevallo to a 2-0 record over the weekend after recording two goals. In the 2-0 win over Union, the freshman scored on goal, on three shots with two being on goal in just 39 minutes of play. The Altoona native then recorded her second goal of the weekend in the 2-0 win over Christian Brothers.
