PITTSBURG, Kan. --- Mississippi College's
Tytavia Hardy and
Hunter Kurz represented the indoor track and field program at NCAA Division II National Championships on Friday, March 11 on the campus of Pittsburg State University.
Â
Hardy, making her second appearance at indoor nationals, finished 19th nationally in a crowded field as she posted a time of 8.89 in the women's 60-meter hurdles, which was seventh in her heat. It is the first time the Pensacola, Fla., junior competed in the 60 hurdles as she represented the program in the triple jump last season, bringing home the bronze medal.
Â
Kurz placed 12th in the men's mile as he clocked a time of 4:08.86 inside the Robert W. Plaster Center. It is the first appearance at indoor nationals for the Philpot, Ky., junior, as he finished seventh in his heat. He was in qualifying position with 50 meters to go, but stumbled and was passed by Adams State's ______ to take the final spot in the finals. However, Kurz earned locked up USTFCCCA All-American prestige.Â
"I am so proud of Tytavia and Hunter as they have illuminated the work and belief required to attain national prominence," said head coach
Matthew Reneker. "The track and field program continues to add national accolades to our resume and we have these two leaders to thank."
Â
Both grabbed U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-South Region nods earlier this week. Hardy grabbed four all-region honors, including triple jump, long jump, high jump, alongside the 60-meter hurdles. Kurz picked up three all-region accolades as he picked up honors in the 5,000 meters as well as a member of the distance medley relay.
