BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The Mississippi College claimed three of the Gulf South Conference's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors, as announced by the conference on Wednesday, Dec. 7. Kevin Turner picked up male track performer while Alana Green earned female track and freshman of the week laurels.

Turner won the men's 60-meter dash at the Birmingham-Southern Indoor Icebreaker with a time of 6.81. He tied the school record in the event with a time of 6.77 in the preliminaries, which was an NCAA Division II 2022-23 Indoor Track and Field provisional mark. The Shorter University transfer went on to post a lifetime best of 21.94 in the men's 200-meter dash later in the competition.

In her collegiate debut, Green broke the freshman record in the women's 60-meter dash prelims before breaking the school record in the semifinals with a NCAA provisional time of 7.66. She took silver in the finals of the event as she clocked a 7.68. She ran an indoor best of 25.15 in the 200-meter dash to finish third overall.

Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 14 as it competes in the UAB Vulcan Invitational.
