CLINTON, Miss. --- Blaine Crim became the second player in Mississippi College baseball history to be selected in the Major League Baseball Draft as he was selected in the 19th round with pick 565 by the Texas Rangers on Wednesday, June 5.
Crim joins Bo Edmiston, who was selected in the 2003 draft by the Houston Astros in the 15th round with pick 449. The Mobile, Ala., native becomes the first Division II, Choctaw player to be drafted.
A 2019 Gulf South Conference Top 10 honoree, Crim, wrapped up his collegiate career as a five-time, all-South Region selection, including three first team accolades this season, 2019 Gulf South Conference Player of the Year and a two-time All-Gulf South Conference performer. He stands as the program's career leader in hits, doubles, at-bats and games played and broke the school's single-season doubles record this season with a GSC-leading 21. He assisted in leading the Choctaws to three consecutive GSC Tournament berths, including the program's first-ever GSC crown in 2018, while being named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament. The tournament championship gave the Navy and Gold its first NCAA Division II regional appearance.
