CLINTON, Miss. --- The 24th-ranked Mississippi College baseball team makes his third straight and ninth appearance in the Gulf South Conference Championship on Friday, May 3 as it faces the University of West Georgia at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. central.

The Choctaws are the No. 2 seed in the double-elimination championship while the Wolves check-in at No. 7. Friday's contest marks the fourth meeting between the two programs this season as MC swept the Red and Blue to open GSC action.

CHOCTAWS VS. THE FIELD
• Mississippi College faced six of the teams involved in the 2019 Gulf South Conference Championship and posted a 10-6 record against the field. The Choctaws took swept series against Montevallo, West Georgia and Shorter and split the series against Valdosta State. West Florida swept the Navy and Gold while Delta State took two of three in the last weekend of the regular season. MC didn't faced Alabama-Huntsville during the 2019 season. MC went 20-7 in the conference this season and dropped only two series inside the league.

CHOCTAWS HISTORY IN GSC CHAMPIONSHIP
• Mississippi College earned a berth in the Gulf South Conference Championship for the third straight year and ninth in the program history. The Choctaws made the tournament five times in the 19080s and again in 1996. The Navy and Gold advanced to the Championship Series in 1984 as the South Division Tournament Champion to face North Alabama. MC returned in 2017 and won the title in 2018. This season the Choctaws enter as the No. 2 seed in the championship.

CRIM NAMED GSC PLAYER OF THE YEAR
• Mississippi College's
Blaine Crim was named Gulf South Conference Baseball Player of the Year. Crim is the first GSC Player of the Year in program history. Along with the honor, Crim was named All-GSC First Team first baseman. The Mobile, Ala., senior ranks in the top 10 in eight, Gulf South Conference offensive categories, including leading the league in slugging percentage and doubles. Crim stands as the program leader in career hits and doubles. He has posted 21 multiple hit performances this season and 15 multi-RBI efforts. The honor joins a long list of accolades for Crim as he is a two-time, all-South Region performer, GSC All-Academic selection, GSC Academic Honor Roll honoree, Google Cloud Academic All-American, two-time All-GSC performer and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2018 GSC Tournament.

SEVEN CHOCTAWS NAMED ALL-GSC
• The Mississippi College baseball team was well represented on the 2019 All-Gulf South Conference Team with seven Choctaws being named to the list.
Blaine Crim was named Gulf South Conference Player of the Year and All-GSC First Team First Baseman with six selections placed on the second team.
Brandon Broussard was tabbed second team catcher while
Billy Cameron was named third baseman and
Chauncey Callier was selected as the designated hitter.
Chris Crosby and
Zack Ingram were named as starting pitchers with
Ryan Lane as the second team relief pitcher. Cameron was a second team all-conference selection in 2018 while this marks the first all-conference nod for the other five second teamers. Crosby, Ingram and Lane rank among the leading pitchers in the GSC while Cameron and Callier are tops on the team in offensive categories.

CHOCTAWS SLIDE TO NO. 6 IN DII SOUTH REGION
• Mississippi College checked-in in sixth in the second NCAA Division II South Region poll. Eight teams make up the NCAA Division II South Region tournament field that will be held at campus sites of the top two schools on May 16-18. The winners from the two region sites advance to the NCAA Division II Super South Region on May 24-25 on the camps of the highest remaining seed. The NCAA Division II World Series will played June 1-8 in Cary, N.C.

Blaine Crim one game away from becoming the program leader in starts with 187. He is second in home runs (35), RBI (195), total bases (417) and runs (158).

Ryan Lane moved to third in career saves with two against Shorter last weekend. Lane has 10 career saves and is four away from becoming the career leader.
•
Zack Ingram is tied for fifth in starts (35), sits eighth in win (15) and ranks ninth in strikeouts (159) and innings (205.0).
•
Chris Crosby ranks sixth in school history in strikeouts (164). Crosby is just outside the top 10 in innings with 184.2 and starts with 29.
•
Tommy Taborda is third in saves (9) and seventh in appearances (50).

• After going 1-2 against nationally-ranked Delta State over the weekend, Mississippi College fell to No. 24 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25.
