CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team returns to Gulf South Conference action on Friday, April 12 as it hosts Shorter University in a three-game, Gulf South Conference series. First pitch of Friday's doubleheader is slated for 2 p.m. The series is set to conclude on Saturday with a 1 p.m. start.
THE SERIES
• Mississippi College and Shorter prepare to meet for the 13th time in series history on Friday, Apr. 12 with the Hawks holding an 8-4 record. The Choctaws swept the weekend series last season in Rome, Ga., their first sweep in the all-time series. The Hawks won eight of the first nine meetings, including a streak of six straight during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. MC's win during the span came on Mar. 29, 2015 with a 13-8 outcome in Clinton.

CHOCTAWS VS. THE PEACH STATE
• Shorter becomes the third opponent from the Peach State this season for the Choctaws. Mississippi College stands 4-1 against schools from the State of Georgia this season. MC swept the series from West Georgia earlier this season and split a pair of contests with Valdosta State. Mississippi College is 29-33 against Georgia institutions in program history. MC skipper

SCOUTING THE HAWKS
•  Shorter enters the weekend sporting a 19-17 record and 11-12 in the Gulf South Conference after losing the series against Auburn-Montgomery last weekend.
• The Hawks are hitting .277 as a team with 318 hits and 179 RBI this season. The SU pitching staff has logged a 4.85 ERA through 36 games. SU has struck out 266 batters and opponents are hitting .258 against the staff this season.
• Michael Avendano leads the Blue and White's offensive threat with a .423 batting average and a team-best 52 hits and 24 RBI - which sits third on the squad. Three Hawks are hitting .300 or better this season. Bailey Gerstner sits second on the team with a .365 clip followed by Victor Perez with a .321 average.
• Banks Woodley leads the Hawks hurlers with a 2.83 ERA in 12 appearances. Woodley paces the squad with 68 strikeouts and is 3-3 on the mound. Victor Santana leads the team with five wins on the bump and stands 5-1 on the campaign. He also ranks second on the team with 40 strikeouts.

NEW CAREER LEADER

Blaine Crim became the career hits leader on Friday, Apr. 5 with a RBI double in the seventh inning at Christian Brothers. The two-bag hit marked his 229th career hit. The Mobile, Ala., senior followed with a RBI double at Henderson State on Apr. 9 to become the career doubles leader.

Blaine Crim is second in home runs (32), RBI (184), total bases (385), runs (150) and games played (179).

Tommy Taborda is third in saves (9) and seventh in appearances (50).

Zack Ingram is 10th in career innings pitched with 191.2 and ninth in starts with 32. He moved into the top 10 in career strikeouts with 150, which is 10th in program history.

Ryan Lane moved to fourth in career saves with his second of the season against Montevallo. Lane have eight career saves.

Chris Crosby moved into the top 10 in career strikeouts in the series against Montevallo. Crosby sits eighth with 151 strikeouts. He is 13th in starts with 26 and 15th in innings with 167.2.

Blaine Crim became the Mississippi College career leader in doubles as the Choctaws extended their win streak to seven games with a 10-7 victory at Henderson State on Tuesday in Arkadelphia, Ark. Callier along with
Grant Barber and
Hunter Sykes registered multiple hits in the non-conference win as the trio all logged two hits each. Callier and Barber led the team with multiple-RBI efforts in the contest as Callier paced the squad with four. Crim become the program's doubles leader in his second at-bat with a RBI double to right field. The Mobile, Ala., senior now leads the program with 51 doubles as he surpassed David Smith, who played for MC from 1989-92.
Dustan Dille (2-1) notched his second win on the mound as the sophomore hurler tossed six innings and allowed four runs on eight hits with a walk and strikeout.
