CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College rookie
Erin Hederman has been named Gulf South Conference Women's Soccer Freshman of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday (Oct. 1).
Hederman (Jackson, Miss.) helped lead the Lady Choctaws to a 2-0 week to open Gulf South Conference play, outscoring West Alabama and UAH in the process, 15-1. The former Jackson Academy standout scored a goal and assisted on two more over the week.
She opened the stretch with an assist in the victory over West Alabama, finding
Katie Taylor in the 23rd minute for the second of her four goals on the day. On Sunday, Hederman scored the first goal of the match in the 5th minute and added an assist in the 52nd minute on a goal by senior
Jess Davenport.
On the season, Hederman has scored twice and is tied for the team lead with three assists over the first five matches. She becomes the second Lady Choctaw to earn GSC Freshman of the Week honors after
Kaylee Foster was recognized in the opening week of the season.
Taylor and the Lady Choctaws are back in action on Friday afternoon when they travel to Cleveland, Tenn. to face Lee University at 4:00 p.m. (Central).
