CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Mississippi College's Andrea McDonald finished 23rd in the triple jump at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at Johnson C. Smith University.
The Metairie, La., native posted a distance of 37'3.75 on her first and third leaps at the Irwin Bell Complex. McDonald jumped 37'1.75 in her second attempt.
The junior claimed gold in the triple jump at the Gulf South Conference Championships with a distance 40' 0.75". She also took home GSC gold in the high jump with a jump of 5'5.75 at the championships and earned silver in the javelin with a throw of 130'1.
"Andrea has been consistent all year in her jumps. She had a big jump at the GSC Championships to qualify for her nationals," said head coach Butch Ard. "It was a good learning experience for her and hopefully she will qualify next year and be here again."
McDonald is a two-sport, student-athlete for Mississippi College. She is the goalkeeper for the Lady Choctaw women's soccer team.
