CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team will resume Gulf South Conference play this weekend, with road matches at Shorter University on Friday, Sept. 15 and at Lee University on Sunday, Sept. 17.

MC NOTES
- The Lady Choctaws (3-0-1, 2-0 GSC) opened Gulf South Conference play last weekend with a 1-0 victory over West Alabama on Friday, Sept. 8, and a 4-1 victory over Alabama Huntsville on Sunday, Sept. 10.
- The Lady Choctaws moved up to number 17 in the week two United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Poll, while remaining number three in the South Regional Rankings. MC was previously ranked 19th in the week one rankings.
- The Lady Choctaws head into the weekend having taken 63 shots on the year, a mark that ranks fourth in the GSC. Through four games, the Lady Choctaws are averaging 15.8 shots per contest.
- Senior defender Caitlin Hayes and freshman forward Lindsey Stephenson both received weekly accolades from the Gulf South Conference for their efforts during last weekend's action.
- Hayes, who scored the game-winning goal in MC's 1-0 victory over West Alabama on Friday, Sept. 10 and led an MC defense that surrendered just one goal in two games, was named the GSC Defender of the Week. Hayes was the recipient of the same award in the previous week of action as a result of her efforts on the pitch.
- Stephenson, who logged both her first collegiate goal and assist in MC's 4-1 victory over Alabama Huntsville on Sunday, Sept. 10, was named the GSC Freshman of the Week.
- Both Hayes and Stephenson lead the Lady Choctaws with three total points on the season.  Hayes, Stephenson, Samantha Carson, Emma Claire Furman, Holly Pascoe, and Lauren Smith each have logged a goal scored on the season.
- In the assist column, Hayes, Stephenson, Lauren Kate Carter, Emily McNair, Hannah Bailey and Katie Taylor all pace the Lady Choctaws with one assist a piece.
- On the defensive side of the ball, the Lady Choctaws pace the GSC with a goals against average of 0.25 through four games. In 380 minutes of play, the Lady Choctaws have managed to allow just one goal. MC began the 2017 season with a scoreless streak of 309 consecutive minutes.
- Sophomore Gabby Kayser and junior Andrea McDonald have split minutes in goal for the Lady Choctaws. Both have started and played in two games for the Lady Choctaws. McDonald (1-0-1) leads the team and the GSC in goals against average (0.00), shutouts (2) and save percentage (1.000), while Kayser (2-0) leads the team in wins.

SHORTER NOTES
- The Lady Hawks (1-1-1) will be playing in their first Gulf South Conference contest against MC on Friday night. Shorter's GSC opener against Spring Hill scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 10 was postponed.
- Shorter heads into Friday's action with an offense that has scored four goals in three games, for an average of 1.33 per contest.
- Taylor Hendrix leads all Lady Hawks with two goals on the year. Corrie Thomas and Alexa Moore have both accounted for score on the season. Madison Morlock accounts for the Lady Hawks lone assist on the year.
- The Lady Hawk defense has allowed five goals in three games so far, while giving up an average of 13 shots per contest. Sixteen of the 39 shots the Lady Hawks have allotted in 2017 have been on goal.
- In goal, Sydney Durham has started and played in two of the three Lady Hawk matches. Durham (0-0-1) leads the Lady Hawks with seven saves, while boasting a goals against average of 0.90.

LEE NOTES
- The Lady Flames (2-2) head into the weekend following a previous weekend of action that saw them go 1-1 in their two-game slate. The flames knocked off Spring Hill 4-1 in their GSC opener, and lost in double overtime to Embry Riddle University.
- The Lady Flames have netted eight goals through four games, for an average of two per contest.
- Lee currently paces the GSC 77 total shots taken in 2017, and are currently averaging 19.25 shots per match, which slots them third in the conference.
- Devin Healy leads the Lady Flame attack, with three goals scored, a mark that ranks second in the conference. McKenzie Bricker leads the team in assists on the season, with two.
- The Lady Flames have allowed six goals in four games, putting them at an average of 1.50 goals allowed per contest.
- Haley Griber (1-2) leads the Lady Flames in goal with 14 saves, and a save percentage of just under of 74 percent.
- Prior to Sunday's contest against MC, the Lady Flames will host Delta State on Friday, Sept.15 at 4:00 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
- The Lady Choctaws bring an all-time record of 2-1 against Shorter and a mark of 1-2-1 against Lee into this weekend's action. In their most recent meetings, MC defeated Shorter 1-0 in Rome, Ga. 2016, and advanced via PK's in a scoreless draw versus Lee in the GSC Tournament last season.
