CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team returns to Gulf South Conference action this weekend as the Choctaws host the University of Alabama in Huntsville. The three-game series opens on Friday, Apr. 14 with a doubleheader slated for 3 p.m.

THE SERIES
- Mississippi College and UAH have met six times in program history with the Chargers taking each meeting. The two squads first met on Apr. 26, 1996 in the GSC Tournament in Cleveland, Miss. The renewal of the series was shortened to two games in 2015 due to weather in Clinton.

MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE NOTES
- The weekend match-up is pivotal for the Choctaws and their bid to earn a berth into the GSC Tournament, where the top eight teams advance to a four-day, "pool play" tournament. MC currently sits eighth in the standings with UAH in ninth.
- The Choctaws are 8-2 in their last 10 games and 13-3 in the last 16 games.
- MC picked up a 7-5 win on Sunday against North Alabama to snap a two-game slide. A pair of Choctaws posted multiple hits in the win. Blaine Crim went 2-for-3 with 2-RBI and a run scored while Hunter Wilson went 2-for-5 with a run. Tommy Taborda (2-2) notched his second win of the season with two-thirds of an inning relief. The sophomore allowed one run on four hits with a strikeout. Jake Fraze (2) claimed his second save of the season. The junior tossed the final inning of play and held the Lions off the base paths.
- Hunter Wilson leads the team in hitting over the last 10 games. Wilson is hitting .435 and has 20 hits. Hunter Austin sits second on the team with a .400 clip.
- Zack Ingram leads the pitching staff with 14 strikeouts during the stretch in 20.0 frames in three starts. Hunter Mullis and Tim Holloway join Ingram in double-digit strikeouts with 10 each. Mullis leads the team with a 2-1 record and a 1.76 ERA.
- Casey Echols leads MC with a .355 batting average this season and 43 hits while Chance Whitten has a .345 clip with 41 hits. Whitten and Crim each have a team-best 25 logos.
- Taborda paces the Choctaw pitching staff with 40 strikeouts on the campaign. Hunter Lacefield, Mullis and Fraze share the team-lead in wins with three.

UAH NOTES
- The Chargers stand 18-20 overall and 11-13 in the conference. The Blue and White are riding a two-game, win streak following a twinbill sweep against Miles College on Tuesday.
- Nolan Ramsey paces the UAH offense with a .352 batting average while three Chargers has totaled a team-best 40 hits (Tanner Burns, Justin Ware, Ben Rhodes). Rhodes leads the team with 37 RBI.
- Myers, the reigning GSC Pitcher of the Week, leads UAH with 66 strikeouts this season and has four of the squad's wins this season with a 3.29 ERA. The senior hurler tossed a no-hitter against Valdosta State last weekend.
