CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team will begin their quest for a Gulf South Conference Championship on Tuesday, Oct. 31 when they host West Alabama in round one of the GSC Postseason Tournament.

MC NOTES
- The Lady Choctaws (13-2-1, 12-2 GSC) finished the regular season tied for first place with Lee University in the conference standings, earning them a co-share of the GSC Regular season title and the number two seed in the Postseason Tournament.
- In their regular season finale, the Lady Choctaws ousted Delta State University 4-0 on October 26.The win marked for MC's fourth in a row, and ninth in their last 10 matches to conclude the regular season.
- The Choctaws currently hold down the number 14 spot in the national rankings, while coming in at number two in the south regional rankings.
- The Lady Choctaws placed three players on the 2017 All Conference Teams, with
Caitlin Hayes and
Andrea McDonald garnering first-team honors, and
Scarlett Hodges receiving second-team honors.Â

ON DEFENSE
- The Lady Choctaws rounded out the 2017 season with a stingy goals against average of 0.56, having allotted just nine goals in their 16-match regular season slate and pitched 10 shutouts. All three were marks that led the GSC, while finishing in the top 20 in country in goals against average.
- The Lady Choctaws will look to continue their streak of eight straight matches in which they have not allowed double-digit shot attempts from their opponent. The MC backline has allowed just one shot on goal from their opponent in four of their last five matches.
- In goal for MC, McDonald will look to improve her already-miniscule goals against average of 0.50 that leads the GSC and ranks among the top 20 keepers in the country. McDonald's save percentage of 0.857 also paceS the conference, while also tallying seven shutouts that ranked tied for second in the conference.
- The Lady Choctaw's current goals against average of 0.56 currently ranks for second best in a season in program history, trailing just the 2000 squad that boasted a GAA of 0.49 on the season.

ON OFFENSE
- The Lady Choctaws netted 34 goals in 16 games in the regular season, for an average of 2.13 per contest. MC was able to tally 30 assists on those 34 goals, with a 1.875 assists per match average that ranked fourth in the conference.
- MC heads into Tuesday's matchup having scored multiple goals in a season-high four straight matches, averaging 3.25 goals over that stretch.
- Junior forward
Lauren Smith paces the Lady Choctaw attack, with seven goals scored, four assists recorded and 18 points accumulated on the year.

Samantha Carson and
Emma Claire Furman sit in second place on the team with four goals scored on the year, while
Lauren Kate Carter sits tied for Smith for the team lead with four assists.
Hannah Bailey,
Caitlin Hayes,
Madison Moser and
Katie Taylor have all registered three assists on the season for second most on the team.

WEST ALABAMA NOTES
- The Tigers (9-7, 7-6 GSC) finshed off the regular season ranked seventh in the GSC standings.
- In their most recent action, West Alabama bested Alabama Huntsville 3-0 on Thursday, Oct. 26 in Huntsville, Ala. to close out the regular season.
- The Tiger attack averaged 2.188 goals per match in the regular season, having scored 35 goals in 16 games. Both were numbers that ranked fourth in the GSC.
- The Tigers are led by Marie Dreezen (11), TeMia Pride (9) and GSC Freshman of the year and first-team All-GSC Selection Anele Komani (6); who were responsible for 26 of West Alabama's 35 goals scored.
- On Defense, the Tigers allowed just 1.25 goals per match on the season, with 20 goals given up over their 16-game slate.
- Second-team All-GSC Selection Jenni Aarniva (9-7) recorded seven shutouts on the season, a mark that tied McDonald for second-most by a GSC Keeper. Aarniva put together a 1.24 goals against average on the year, with 76 saves that ranked for second best in the conference.

SERIES HISTORY
- MC brings an all-time record of 2-2 against West Alabama into Tuesday's matchup. Earlier in the year, the Lady Choctaws defeated the Tigers 1-0 in Clinton, Miss. to open up GSC play on Sept. 8.
