CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team closes out the 2016 home slate this weekend as the Choctaws welcome Lee University to Frierson Field for a three-game series. The series starts on Saturday, Apr. 23 with a doubleheader scheduled for 2 p.m. The Sunday finale slated for 1 p.m.

Saturday marks just the fourth meeting between Mississippi College and Lee University as the Flames hold a 3-0 advantage in the series after taking all three contests last season in Cleveland, Tenn.

This weekend marks the final home weekend for 11 seniors.

Caleb Upton will all don the Navy and Gold for the last time at Frierson Field. The seniors will be honored prior to Sunday's finale.

MC used a season-high 17 hits, including five multiple hit efforts to upend Belhaven on Tuesday evening. Ferrell led the team with four hits and tied for tops on the squads with two RBI in the victory.
Matt Payne recorded his first win of the season in a relief effort. The victory marked the first time since 1989 that the Choctaws were perfect against Millsaps and Belhaven.

On the season,
Hunter Bolin leads the team in batting average with a .380 clip. The junior ranks second on the team in hits with 52 behind Ferrell's team-best 55 hits. Ferrell ranks second on the team in average at .367. Freshman
Blaine Crim paces the team in RBI with 25 followed by Upton with 23.
Jake Fraze and
Samuel Harrison lead the MC hurlers as the duo has posted 60-plus innings on the hill this season and rank first and second in strikeouts. Harrison leads the team with 57 strikeouts while Fraze sits second with 38.
Parker Watts has crept up the list and is third with 36 Ks.

Lee enters riding an eight-game win streak following an 8-7, 11 inning win over Tusculum College on Tuesday. The Flames are led at the dish by Ben Holland, who has posted a .432 batting average and a team-best 67 hits while driving in 47 runs. Art Vidrio paces the LU pitching staff. Vidrio has totaled 63.2 innings on the bump and has 62 strikeouts. Justin Alleman leads the team with 68 strikeouts in 60.1 frames of work.

Following the weekend slate, Mississippi College travels to Hattiesburg, Miss., on Tuesday, Apr. 26 for the first of four games on the road to close out the season.
