Senior Jess Davenport has been named Mississippi College Merit Health Female Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (Nov. 4).
Davenport (Widnes, England) scored in both matches on the week, including the game-winner in a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Montevallo on Sunday. She also added an assist in the 7-0 win over Auburn Montgomery on Thursday.
On Sunday's "Senior Day", Davenport notched her 28th career goal in the 80th minute, capping a comeback that saw the #5 Lady Choctaws trailing at halftime, 1-0. The win gave MC 13 straight victories, which sets a new school record.
The Lady Choctaws clinched the Gulf South Conference regular season championship with the victory over Montevallo, marking the first regular season title in school history.
MC will wrap up the regular season at Spring Hill (Nov. 7) and West Florida (Nov. 9) this week. They will enter the GSC Tournament as the #1 seed and host a match on "Super Tuesday" on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
