CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Mississippi College women's golf team placed 12th in the NCAA DII South Regional Preview, with
Ashlynd Madden tying for 37th after shooting a 231 (+15) over three rounds at Cleveland Country Club.
Madden finished the tournament at 231 (+15). Madden's performance was consistent with a pair of 76s in the first and final rounds, alongside a 79 in the second round.
Suwanna McPhee tied for 42nd with a total score of 232 (+16). McPhee opened with an even-par 72 and followed up with a 75 in the second round, but her final round of 85 saw her slip down the leaderboard.
Sydney Moss and
Francisca Herrera Tallone both tied for 74th with scores of 242 (+26). Moss improved significantly in her final round, shooting a 75 after earlier rounds of 81 and 86. Herrera Tallone's best round came in the second with a 77, flanked by rounds of 79 and 86.
Allie Myers finished 78th with a score of 243 (+27). Myers displayed steady progress throughout the tournament, concluding with an 80 after rounds of 82 and 81.
Third ranked Wingate University claimed the overall title with an 877 (+13) for the three rounds. Fifth ranked Lynn University finished second with an 892 (+28) while 21st ranked Lander University rounded out the top three team spots with a 901 (+37)
Looking ahead, the Choctaws are set to participate in the Savannah Lakes Women's Invitational on Monday, Sept. 22. The event will begin at 8 a.m. in McCormick, S.C., at the Monticello Golf Club.
