Clinton, Miss. — Mississippi College student-athletes led the Gulf South Conference (GSC) with the most selections to the Winter All-Academic Teams, as the conference recognized 446 student-athletes across four sports for their academic excellence.
A total of 37 student-athletes were named to the GSC All-Academic Teams, while 225 basketball players and 231 track and field athletes were honored on the GSC Honor Roll. The four sports included in the winter academic awards were men's basketball, women's basketball, men's indoor track & field, and women's indoor track & field.
Mississippi College led the GSC with nine student-athletes named to the All-GSC Academic Teams, setting a conference-high for the winter. In addition, 49 student-athletes from Mississippi College were named to the GSC Honor Roll. Among the standout performances, 58 student-athletes across the entire GSC earned a perfect 4.00 GPA and were included in the honor roll.
The qualifications for the All-GSC Academic Teams require student-athletes to have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better over their entire academic career. These athletes must also be significant contributors to their respective teams. Leadership, community service, and extracurricular involvement are also taken into consideration.
GSC Honor Roll & All-Academic Teams Breakdown
- Basketball had a total of 225 honorees, with 103 men and 122 women.
- Indoor track & field followed closely with 231 honorees, including 130 men and 101 women.
Men's Basketball All-Academic Team
Rashad Bolden, a junior from Mississippi College majoring in finance with a 3.20 GPA, was named to the GSC Men's Basketball All-Academic Team. The team honors student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically.
Women's Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Team
Four Mississippi College athletes earned recognition on the GSC Women's Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Team:
- Livia Fischer, a senior majoring in English with a 3.86 GPA
- Hannah Jackson, a sophomore majoring in elementary education with a 3.93 GPA
- Hilary Udechukwu, a senior majoring in political science (pre-legal) with a 3.76 GPA
- Ava Wardlaw, a junior majoring in elementary education with a 3.87 GPA
Men's Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Team
Mississippi College was also represented on the GSC Men's Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Team by:
- Cole Benoit, a senior majoring in integrated communications with a perfect 4.00 GPA
- Brock Kelly, a senior majoring in business administration with a 3.87 GPA
- Braedon Methvin, a junior majoring in biology with a 3.61 GPA
- Evan Wrights, a sophomore majoring in biology, medical sciences with a 3.85 GPA
