MOBILE, Ala. — A new season tips off today for Mississippi College women's basketball, and the Choctaws are ready to turn the page with purpose as they open the 2025–26 campaign in the GSC–SIAC Crossover in Mobile, Ala., on Friday, Nov. 14.
After months of preparation, MC finally gets its first test, stepping onto the floor against Clark Atlanta University, in the first meeting between the two programs. The neutral-site showcase brings together programs from two Division II regional conferences, giving the Choctaws an immediate chance to measure themselves. It is the fifth consecutive season the Blue and Gold have competed in the Crossover, sporting a 4-4 overall mark against the neighboring SIAC.
The Choctaws were selected seventh in the GSC Coaches' Preseason Poll - one spot down from where they finished last season - earning a conference tournament spot. First-year head coach
Rachel Travis brings together a mixed roster filled with returners from a season ago, including 2024-25 preseason all-conference selection,
Karly Ivy, alongside
Keller Bigham and
Nia Coleman. Travis added depth on the roster this season with the addition of three familiar faces to the GSC,
Shauna Fletcher,
Valencia McFall and
Faith Quick. Fletcher previously played at UAH while McFall comes to Clinton from Christian Brothers. Quick makes her way to MC after prior experience across the state at Delta State.
Following Friday afternoon's tilt, the Choctaws close out the Crossover against host, Spring Hill on Saturday, Nov. 15. It is the fourth contest between those the neighboring state institutions. MC topped the Badgers last season in Mobile, 79-66. The two squads met twice prior to that encounter. The Blue and Gold is 2-1 all-time against SHC.
Tip-off on Friday is set for 3 p.m. Fans can follow the action from the Alabama Coast at GoChoctaws.com.
