CHOCTAWS CRACK SOUTH REGION TOP 10 AFTER STRONG START TO 2025 SEASON

CLINTON, Miss. — The Mississippi College men's soccer team has earned recognition among the region's best, coming in at No. 9 in the latest United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II South Region rankings.

The Choctaws (4-1-4, 3-0-2 GSC) have put together an impressive start to the 2025 campaign, highlighted by a seven-match unbeaten streak and back-to-back Gulf South Conference victories. MC has found its stride on both ends of the pitch, outscoring opponents 14–6 over the last five contests.

Mississippi College opened the season with a pair of road draws at Texas A&M International and St. Edward's before facing top-ranked Lynn University, falling 2–1 in a hard-fought battle against the nation's No. 1 team. Since that loss, the Choctaws have gone unbeaten, earning key conference results over Delta State, Spring Hill, West Florida, Christian Brothers, and Union.

The offensive charge has been led by a balanced attack, with multiple Choctaws finding the back of the net in recent weeks. Defensively, MC has tightened up, allowing just one goal in its last two matches — including a 3–1 home victory over Delta State on Oct. 3 that extended the team's winning streak to two.

Lynn University and Palm Beach Atlantic currently share the top spot in the South Region rankings at 7–0–1, followed by Tampa, Nova Southeastern, and West Florida rounding out the top five. Mississippi College joins fellow GSC members West Florida (No. 5), Alabama-Huntsville (No. 7), and Auburn Montgomery (No. 8) in the regional poll, underscoring the league's growing strength in Division II soccer.

The Choctaws continue GSC play next weekend, looking to build on their momentum as the second half of the conference slate approaches.
