CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College junior defender Gage Sorey has been named the Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Week, following a strong weekend performance that helped lead the Choctaws to two key conference victories.
Sorey played all 180 minutes across the two matches, anchoring a defensive unit that allowed just three shots on goal in a 3-0 shutout over Lee. He also contributed offensively, scoring his third goal of the season in a 4-1 win against Trevecca Nazarene.
The Choctaws went 2-0 on the week, earning six crucial points in GSC play as they continue their push up the conference standings.
This marks another standout performance for Sorey, who has been a consistent presence on the back line for Mississippi College throughout the season.
