CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Mississippi College struggled to find its rhythm Thursday night, falling 64-56 to Lee University in Gulf South Conference action at Walker Arena. The Choctaws drop to 6-9 overall and 2-7 in league play, while the Flames improve to 5-7 and earn their first conference win.
The Choctaws were led by Rashad Bolden, who tallied 14 points, including four three-pointers, and dished out a team-high eight assists. Ty Briscoe matched Bolden's scoring output with 14 points, going a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. Odis Carter contributed 10 points, while Judah Land anchored the defense with nine rebounds and two steals.
Lee's balanced attack was spearheaded by Tariq Daughton, who scored 15 points, including two key three-pointers in the second half. Tylon Chatman added 13 points, and Willie Walton recorded 10 points and six rebounds to help the Flames secure the win.
Mississippi College struggled offensively, shooting just 35.2% from the field and 27.8% from beyond the arc. Despite their defensive efforts, the Choctaws couldn't overcome Lee's efficiency at the free-throw line, where the Flames converted 17 of 21 attempts.
The Choctaws return to action Monday night when they travel to Nashville to face Trevecca Nazarene. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CST.
