BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Lydia Paulette earned Gulf South Conference Player of the Week laurels, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, Oct. 8. This is the second conference weekly award for the Tuscaloosa, Ala., native this season and the eighth of her career.

Paulette is the first two-time recipient of the award this season.

Paulette had an impressive week as she helped direct the Choctaw to a 3-0 week. She led the GSC in kills (55), kills per set (5.00), points (64.5) and points per set (5.86). She also finished second in service aces (7) and sixth in aces per set (0.64).

She began her week of action tying a career-high and school-record with 24 kills in a come-from-behind victory at Montevallo. The performance helped MC to its first-ever win on the Falcons' home floor and was the most by a player in the conference during the week. She also had a career-high 28.5 points in the four-setter. She followed the performance against UM with 18 kills in the sweep of Lee, which was the most in a three-set match by a conference player. She finished with a team-best 13 kills in the win over Trevecca Nazarene - the first meeting between the two programs.

The senior continues her pursuit of the Choctaw all-time leader in kills and points. She is 124 kills from tying the program's all-time kill mark and 153.0 points from the points title.

Mississippi College returns to action this weekend as it hits the road for the Peach State for the first of two GSC contests. The Choctaw begin their weekend slate at Valdosta State University before ending the road trip at the University of West Florida with a Noon start. First serve at VSU is set for 5 p.m. central.
