RIDGELAND, Miss. — In a commanding performance, the Mississippi College women's soccer team defeated Tougaloo College 12-0 on Tuesday evening at Ridgeland High School, improving their record to 5-2-3 overall.
The Lady Choctaws wasted no time establishing their dominance, scoring their first goal just 6:31 into the match. Jaylen Bodry found the back of the net, assisted by Cooper Holmes. Just over a minute later, Erin Stamatopoulos added another goal, followed by Bodry's second goal at the 11:32 mark, showcasing the team's offensive prowess.
Bodry continued to shine, netting her third goal at 12:29 with help from Grace Studinka. Stamatopoulos and Jadyn Mallory each contributed to the scoreline with two goals apiece, while Kennedy Mendoza scored three times and provided two assists.
Mississippi College's relentless offense resulted in a total of 36 shots, 21 of which were on target. The team also earned five corner kicks while maintaining strong defensive pressure, allowing only one shot from Tougaloo, which did not hit the target.
The second half saw Presley Pinkston add to the tally, scoring the final goal at 65:26, solidifying the Lady Choctaws' impressive victory.
The Lady Choctaws will look to carry this momentum into their next match against West Alabama, scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.
