CLINTON, Miss. – Mississippi College football fought hard but was unable to overcome a strong West Alabama team, falling 26-0 in Gulf South Conference action on Saturday at Robinson-Hale Stadium. The Choctaws (0-6, 0-4 GSC) were anchored by a determined rushing attack and a defense that refused to quit, despite facing one of the conference's top-ranked teams.

Marcus Williams led the Choctaws on the ground, carrying the ball 27 times for 82 yards. While Mississippi College found some success in the running game, their passing attack struggled, and they were unable to find the end zone against the tough West Alabama defense.

West Alabama (5-0, 2-0 GSC) opened the scoring early with a 33-yard field goal from Elijah Guyton on their first drive. They extended their lead with two touchdowns before halftime, including a 19-yard pass from Spencer Arceneaux to Caeleb Bass and a 2-yard run by Devontae Causey, which left the Choctaws trailing 16-0 at the break.

Mississippi College's defense, led by Braxton Hall and Chris Butler with five tackles each, battled to keep the game within reach. The Choctaws forced West Alabama into several third-down situations, but the Tigers' offense was efficient, especially in the red zone, scoring on all four of their opportunities.

In the second half, West Alabama added a 10-yard rushing touchdown by Arceneaux and a 45-yard field goal from Guyton to extend their lead.

The Choctaws will look to regroup as they return to the road to face Valdosta State next Saturday at 2:00 PM cst in Valdosta, Ga.
