Valdosta, GA — Mississippi College football fell to third-ranked Valdosta State on Saturday, losing 35-10 in Gulf South Conference play. With the defeat, the Choctaws' record dropped to 0-7 overall and 0-5 in conference action, while the Blazers improved to 7-0 and maintained their perfect conference record at 3-0.
Valdosta State took an early lead with a touchdown pass from Sammy Edwards to Tyler Ajiero, followed by a six-yard rushing touchdown from Alfonso Franklin, pushing the score to 14-0 by the end of the first quarter.
The Choctaws responded in the second quarter with a three-yard touchdown run from Lamonte James, capping an 11-play, 71-yard drive that narrowed the deficit to 21-7. However, the Blazers quickly answered back with a 56-yard touchdown pass from Edwards to Rodney Bullard, extending their lead to 28-7 by halftime.
In the second half, Valdosta State maintained control, scoring two additional touchdowns, including another pass from Edwards to Ajiero. Mississippi College managed to add a 30-yard field goal from Ben Pledger in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to close the gap.
