Paulette, Chastang Earn All-GSC Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Mississippi College volleyball duo earn All-Gulf South Conference honors, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, Nov. 14. Lydia Paulette grabbed first team laurels while Caroline Chastang earned second team.
 
This marks the second consecutive year the pair of Yellowhammer State natives have picked up all-conference accolades.
 
Paulette leads the GSC in three offensive categories during her junior campaign. The Tuscaloosa, Ala., product has 384 total kills this season and averaged 3.73 kills per set. She also leads the conference in points per set with 4.26 while ranked second in total points with 438.5. She registered three of the top 10 kill performances in the conference this season, including a career-high and school record 24 against Florida Southern College on Oct. 21 – the second highest total in the league this season.
 
Chastang followed her scintillating debut campaign, where she earned GSC Freshman of the Year, with her second straight, all-conference second team nod. The Bay Minette, Ala., native is fourth in the conference this season in kills per set with 2.91 while fifth in total kills with 300. She is fifth in total points with 346.0 and fifth in the league with 3.36 points per set. Her career-high 22 kills at Augusta University on Sept. 16 rank third most in the conference this season. She registered 26.0 points in the match against the Jaguars, which is second highest in the league.
 
Along with the top five conference rankings this season, the pair are tied for 13th in the conference in service aces with 37 each.

Chastang and Paulette are the 19th and 20th All-GSC honoress under head coach Shawna Laurendine and the sixth and seventh during her tenure at MC.
 
Mississippi College returns to action tonight in the GSC Tournament First Round as it hosts Lee University. First serve is at 6 p.m.
