MONTEVALLO, Ala. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team dropped a four-set Gulf South Conference contest on Saturday, Oct. 28 at the University of Montevallo. MC falls to 9-13 on the season and 7-5 in conference play. The Falcons improve to 10-15 and 8-5 in the league.

The duo of
Lydia Paulette and
Caroline Chastang led the team in kills as the pair of State of Alabama natives were both in double figures. Paulette led the team with 17 kills while Chastang added 13 to go along with her 16 digs, which were also second-best on the team. Paulette also registered double-digit digs with 11.

Ali Wiggins picked up her 14th contest of the season with 20-plus assists and 16th of her career as she tallied 23 on the afternoon.
Caylin Pixley dished out 18 dimes in the contest.

Londyn Bakeris recorded double figure digs for the fifth time this season and the 11th of her career as she compiled a team-best 19 in the defensive effort. Paulette assisted with a team-best two blocks on the defensive end.

After the Falcons led from post-to-post in the opening set, MC rallied to knot the match at one-all in the second frame. The two teams exchanged leads throughout much of the second and found themselves tied at 17-all before the Choctaws claimed the lead, 21-17, behind a 4-0 run. The Choctaws' run spurred an 8-2 spurt to claim a 25-19 victory.

Like the first set, the Purple and Gold gained the advantage early and never relinquished it in the third and fourth frames. UM took a 2-1 lead in the match following a 25-15 victory in the third set and closed the match with a 25-18 victory in the fourth.

Mississippi College returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 31 as it travels to Pensacola, Fla., for conference play against the nationally-ranked University of West Florida. First serve is at 6 p.m. in the UWF Field House.
