CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College fell to Auburn Montgomery on Thursday night in Gulf South Conference play, with the Warhawks winning by a final score of 65-60.
The Choctaws started off the night with an early lead, jumping out to a 9-5 score in the first five minutes of action over AUM.
AUM cruised to a 16-6 run in thee next seven minute stretch of action, taking the lead over the Choctaws by six points, 21-15.
MC went on a run of their own over the next five minutes of the first half, tying the contest up at 28-28 on a
Bee McCrary layup with 2:48 remaining in the half.Â
AUM finished out the final minutes with a 5-3 stretch as the Warhawks went into the locker room leading by two-points, 33-31.
In the second half, both teams remained locked into a tight matchup with AUM holding a slight one point lead, 43-42, with 10:15 on the clock.Â
James Franklin knocked down a layup with 5:49 left to go in the contest, tying the game up at 51-51. AUM utilized a 5-0 stretch over the next three minutes to grab a five point lead, 56-51 with 3:07 left.
Bee McCrary hit back to back free throws with just over a minute left in the game to bring the Choctaws back to within a one-point deficit, 58-57.
AUM closed out the final final on a 7-3 stretch, giving the Warhawks a 65-60 win on the night in Clinton, Miss.Â
Three Choctaws capped the night off with double-digit points scored, with
Galen Smith leading the way with 14 points on the night. Smith also collected eight rebounds and one blocked shot.
Miles Miller had a stellar night, finishing with his second double-double in a row after grabbing 10 rebounds and putting up 10 points. He also tallied seven assists on the night and three steals.
Tradavis Thompson ended the night 4-of-13 shooting from the floor with 11 points scored.
Bee McCrary went 2-of-6 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line to finish with nine points.Â
Mississippi College had 26 points in the paint and also received 25 points scored off of the bench. The Choctaws fall to 11-10 overall on the season and 7-10 in the Gulf South Conference.
MC returns to action at home on Saturday where they take on Montevallo. The two teams are set to tip-off beginning at 4 p.m. at the A.E. Wood Coliseum in Clinton, Miss.Â
