Choctaws Take Down Montevallo In Saturday GSC Action

CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College got back into the win column on Saturday evening, winning 75-67 over Montevallo in Gulf South Conference action.

MC opened up the first seven minutes of the first half to a seven point lead over the Falcons, jumping out to a 20-13 advantage. 

Montevallo utilized the next minute and a half of play to go on an 8-0 run to take a one-point advantage over the Choctaws, 21-20 with 12:03 on the clock.

Both the Choctaws and Falcons remained in a one possession advantage of each other throughout the remainder of the half, closing out the first half knotted up at 41-41.

Opening up the second half, MC used a 13-5 stretch in the first seven minutes to gain an eight-point advantage to lead 54-46 over the Falcons. 

Montevallo closed the Choctaw lead down to 63-61 with 3:01 left in regulation, yet MC once again went on a 6-0 to regain an eight point advantage. 

The Falcons knocked down a three-pointer with 20 seconds left in the game to cut it to a 71-67 Choctaw lead, yet two Miles Miller free throws and a layup by Bee McCrary at the end of game, gave MC the 75-67 win over the Falcons in Saturday evening GSC play.

Galen Smith tallied a double-double in the win with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Smith also finished the night with one block.

Tradavis Thompson knocked down four three-pointers on his way to finishing with 19 points. Thompson went on the have five assists and one steal.

Miles Miller collected 11 points on 2-of-6 shooting, with five rebounds and a team best six assists. Bee McCrary had nine points scored while James Franklin added eight points. 

As a team, MC shot 25-of-50 from the floor, improving to 12-10 overall on the season and 8-10 in Gulf South Conference play.
