CLINTON, Miss.--- Mississippi College goalkeeper
Santiago Dominguez has been named Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week for his efforts this past weekend.
Dominguez, a freshman out of Malaga, Spain, made his first career appearance/start in goal for MC in Sunday's match (Sept. 25th) against West Alabama. In the match, Dominguez made five saves with several being important and impressive ones. He only allowed one goal in the match, with it coming off of a rebound after Dominguez had previously saved the initial shot.
Dominguez is the third keeper that MC has been forced to use this season, but he filled in admirably to help the Choctaws get a result. MC drew with West Alabama 1-1 in the match.
This marks the third time (out of five weeks so far) this season that a MC player has won Freshman of the Week in men's soccer. Dominguez joins
Felix Ewald (who is a two time winner (Sept. 6th and Sept. 20th)). This is also the second week in a row that the Choctaws have had the GSC men's soccer Freshman of the Week.
