BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Mississippi College outdoor track and field swept the Gulf South Conference Performers of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday, May 4.

Five freshmen wrapped up laurels led by
Kelechi Christian led the way as she claimed the conference's track and performer of the week laurels. Fellow freshman
Victoria Myles brought home the women's field performer of the week. On the men's side,
Wesley Gibbs grabbed the track performer of the week while
Gabe Hodson picked up the freshman of the week.

Junior
Al Ferrill was the lone non-freshman to grab a weekly accolade. He earned a first-place finish in the shot put at the Mike McMillan Twilight with a toss of 15.99 meters before setting a new personal best with a second-place discus hurl of 48.48 meters. Â

Christian set a new Mississippi College record with a time of 24.44 seconds in the 200-meter race before setting second program record with a time of 56.97 seconds in the 400-meter run. Myles' hammer throw covered 41.78 meters which set a new MC record. She then took home a fourth-place finish in the discus with a throw of 36.64 meters.

Gibbs set a new Mississippi College record in the 800-meter run after finishing with a first-place time of 1:49.76. The freshman also helped to break an MC record in the 4x400-meter relay after finishing in 3:08.33, the second-fastest time in Division II. Hodson was a part of the 4x400-meter relay team that posted a new MC record and the second-fastest time in Division II at 3:08.33. He also finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.81.

Mississippi College returns to action on Thursday, May 5 as it opens the GSC Outdoor Championships on its home turf.
