CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team forced a doubleheader split on Saturday, March 26 as the Choctaws (11-18, 6-8 Gulf South Conference) won the nightcap against 14th-ranked Valdosta State University, 9-5. The Blazers (18-6, 10-3 GSC) opened the weekend with an 11-6 victory.

The two teams close out the series on Sunday, March 27. First pitch is at 1 p.m.

The victory snapped a seven-game win streak for the Red and Black on the season and gave MC its first win in Clinton, in the series, since 1992.

Ken Scott the Navy and Gold at the dish in game two with three hits and seven RBI – the most since former Choctaw, Blaine Crim, drove in seven at the University on Montevallo on April 4, 2018. The Meridian, Miss., native plated the Choctaws' first two runs of the game with a double down the left field line.

Caleb Reese to give MC a 3-2 lead.

VSU rallied and regained the lead at 5-3 through three innings of action. Following a
Lance Wade RBI single in the fifth, Scott landed another blow to the scoreboard with a three-run home run to right field to place the Choctaws up 7-5. However, the senior was not done adding to his total, as he drove in the final two runs of the game, securing the victory, with a single in the sixth inning.

Cooper Gadman (2-1) picked up the win on the bump with a scoreless, three inning out of the bullpen. The Brandon, Miss., native struck out two and gave up one run. MC starter
Gavin LeBlanc allowed five runs on seven hits with a strikeout.
Lance Wade entered from left field to pitch the final frame and allowed just one runner.

Reese joined Scott with three hits in the contest as Wade and
Lane Willis joined the multiple-hit efforts with a pair of hits each.

In the opener, the two teams stood deadlocked at six-all through the first seven innings, but the Blazers pounded out five runs on six hits in the eighth to take the contest 11-6. The Choctaws totaled eight hits with five coming in the first three trips to the plate. Wade landed the biggest blow for MC with a grand slam in the first to give the team a 5-1 lead.

David Dunn (1-3) took the loss on the mound with five runs allowed on nine hits in 3.2 innings of relief. He held the Blazers scoreless through the first three frames and allowed just three hits.
Joseph Cuomo drew the start of the hill and gave up six runs on 10 hits in four innings.
Brooks Warren saw the final 1.1 innings on the rubber and struck out one in four batters faced as no Blazer reached base.

Wade paced the squad at the dish with three hits and the four RBI in the opener and finished with five hits on the day.
