YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. --- The Mississippi College baseball team dropped the series finale at 26th-ranked Young Harris College as the Mountain Lions (5-1) walked off with a 6-5 win on Sunday, Feb. 13. MC moves to 2-5 on the campaign.

Caleb Reese and
Tristan Tigrett combined for four of the Choctaws eight hits on the day as
Markarius Lee drove in three of the squads' five runs in the setback. Reese and Tigrett each recorded a pair of hits.

The Navy and Gold carried a 5-2 lead into the eighth inning, but were unable to hold on to the advantage as YHC tied the contest in the bottom of the eighth and Noah Fitzgerald drew a one-out, bases-loaded walk to give the Mountain Lions the one-run victory.

With the two teams deadlocked going into the seventh, Lee broke the tie with a sacrifice fly to bring home
Lane Willis. It was the third RBI of the day for the Southaven, Miss., native as he had drive in both runs earlier in the game.

Ken Scott followed with an RBI-double to plate Reese and Tigrett drove in Scott to expand the lead to 5-2. After a
Derrek Lathon, Jr., walk, he and Tigrett each notched a stolen base, but the duo was left standing in scoring position to end the half inning. MC left a total of nine runners on the bases in the contest.

Following an Ethan Underwood RBI-single in the home half of the eighth to pull the margin to within two runs, Rome Wallace delivered a two-RBI single to left field to knot the contest at 5-all.

After back-to-back singles from Matt Castle and Logan Worley, Kyle Ayers reached on a ball that caught him on the hip to load the bases. Following a
Brooks Warren strikeout, Fitzgerald drew a full-count, walk to end the contest.

Jackson Smith (0-1) took the loss on the mound as he allowed one run on two hits in just two-thirds of an inning of action out of the bullpen. MC starter
Jackson Bridges tossed 5.1 and gave up two runs on four hits with five strikeouts.
Payton Russell tossed 2.0 innings in relief with three runs allowed on four hits.

Brody Meeks (2-0) took the win in the contest with 2.2, hitless innings in relief as he struck out five.

Mississippi College returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 15 as it faces its fourth consecutive, nationally-ranked opponent as 18th-ranked Henderson State University comes to Dickins-Scoper Stadium, Frierson Field. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
