INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Jazmin Hernandez, a junior on the Women's Mississippi College Cross Country team, has been selected to compete at the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships. The event will be held on Friday, Dec. 2, in University Place, Wa. at the Chambers Bay Golf Course.
Hernandez is coming off an eighth-place finish at the 2022 NCAA South Region Cross County Championships in Lakeland, Fla., covering the six-kilometer switchback course in 21:50.0(5:51 mile pace).
The 5K and 6K school record holder was out of the automatic qualifying spots, but because of her impressive 2022 Cross Country pedigree, was selected as an at-large qualifier.
Hernandez will be making her second consecutive trip to the NCAA Cross Country Championships after placing 68th at the 2021 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships.

-commenting on her first thoughts on qualifying and her preparation for the national championships
"Honestly, I couldn't believe it. I had just told my family that I wouldn't make the trip this year. Seconds later, I was told I was going, and was filled with all kinds of emotions! I learned a lot from Regionals, and I plan on taking that experience to Nationals and give it my all."
