CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's outdoor track and field teams gear up for the 2021 Gulf South Conference Championships, which are being held this week at the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Ala. Action for the three-day event starts at Noon on Thursday, April 29 and runs through Saturday, May 1 with the 4x400 relay.

Tytavia Hardy leads a talented group of Lady Choctaws into the championships. Hardy, a native of Pensacola, Fla., holds the best distances in the conference this season in the high jump, long jump and triple jump. Her mark of 12.41 meters in the triple stands as a NCAA qualifying mark. The sophomore is also scheduled to compete in the 100-meter hurdles, where she holds the third best time in the conference this season.

Mississippi College holds the four of the top five marks at the GSC Championship in the triple jump as former Lady Choctaws Andrea McDonald and Anna Govero each notched a distance of 1.68 meters in the event. Govero accomplished the feat twice during her career (2016, 2017). McDonald hit the GSC Championship record also in 2017 and followed up with a distance of 1.67 meters in 2018 – the fourth-best mark in the championship's history.

McDonald ranks third in the GSC Championship's history in the triple jump with a distance of 12.21 meters (2018) while Kiana Grant (2016) is second in the long jump with a leap of 5.93 meters.

Marina Rizk looks to defend her 2019 GSC title in the pole vault. Rizk holds the GSC Championship record with a height of 3.50 meters. She topped former Lady Choctaw Bobbi LaBrant held the record in 2016 with a distance of 3.45 meters. Rizk is tied for second this season in the event with a mark of 3.35 meters.

Mississippi College holds three of the best times this season in the 10,000 meters.
Jazmin Hernandez is third on the list with a time of 38:04.37 followed by
Madeline Campbell (38:07.69) and
McKenzie Hargrove (38:16.54) respectively.

Hernandez will also compete in the 800 meters (2:15.44), 1,500 meters (4:34.67), and 5,000 meters (17:33.78). Joining her in the 800 is
Emma Langley, who holds the third best time in the event with a time of 2:13.25.

Kiara Vance tallied one of the top five marks this season in the discus as she ranks fourth in the GSC with a toss of 37.29 meters.
