CLINTON, Miss. ---
Humberto Pelaez has been named the Gulf South Conference Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Decade as the GSC All-Decade Team was announced on Tuesday (June 9).
Pelaez (Panama City, Panama) was named the GSC Player of the Year in 2016, helping lead the Choctaws to the league's regular season championship and hosting rights for the conference tournament. That season, he went 8-2-2 with six shutouts and a 0.85 goals against average, the third-best mark in school history.
For his career, Pelaez (2014-17) is MC's all-time leader in goalkeeper wins (33), is tied for the school record in shutouts (19) and ranks 2nd in career saves (261). He was twice named First Team All-GSC (2016, 2017) and earned United Soccer Coaches All-South Region honors twice (2016, 2017).
The GSC All-Decade Awards factored in the contributions from the years 2010-19 and were jointly selected by institutional personnel, coaches and league administrators.
