BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---
Alexis Dunn of Mississippi College has been named the 2020 Gulf South Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Champion Scholar-Athlete.
This is the first year that the league office has given out the Champion Scholar-Athlete Award. Normally, the award would be handed out at the site of each GSC Championship, but this is unable to occur due to the cancellation of the conference's spring competition this year.
The student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point-average and the most hours among school competing for the conference championship is awarded the honor. GPA is based on the most recently completed term, and the individual must have a minimum of 48 credit hours to be eligible for the award. Student-athletes are only eligible to win the award one time per academic year.
Dunn, a junior biology medical sciences major from Houston, Texas, has a 4.0 GPA and has completed 77 credit hours.
