CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College indoor track and field team was well represented on the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association all-region team, as announced by the association. A combination of 11 MC student-athletes was placed on the list.

Rakeem Wilson led the way with four nods followed by
Tytavia Hardy with three.
Al Ferrill and
Dalton Dempsey each had two.

Wilson received all-region recognition in the 60 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters. He also added an all-region honor as part of the 4x400 relay team along with Dempsey,
Justin Jackson and
Daviciea McCartney. Dempsey also earned the accolade in the 400 meters.

Hardy's recognition came in the women's high jump, long jump and triple, where she was a top regional performer in the three events. Ferrill picked up all-region laurels in the men's weight throw along with the shot put. Teammate
A.B. Williams was also recognized in the weight throw.

McKenzie Hargrove (5,000 meters),
Marina Rizk (pole vault),
Evan Del Rio (3,000 meters) and
Jake Russell (800 meters) rounded out the Mississippi College all-region honorees.

A total of 1,614 athletes from 156 different institutions earned all-region honors nationwide with 812 honorees coming from the men's side and an additional 802 from women's teams.

Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students. MC recently finished their transition process back to NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference and began competing for conference and national championships in the 2016-17 academic year.
The athletic department sponsors 17 intercollegiate athletic programs: Baseball, Men's and Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Cross Country, Football, Golf, Men's and Women's Soccer, Softball, Men's and Women's Tennis, Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field, Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field and Volleyball.
