CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team returns to A.E. Wood Coliseum on Thursday, Feb. 7, against Auburn University at Montgomery. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. The Lady Choctaws close out the weekend on Saturday, Feb. 9 against seventh-ranked Union University. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE NOTES / PREVIEWÂ
• Thursday marks the only meeting on the campaign between Mississippi College and Auburn Montgomery. The two squads last met on Feb. 1, 2018 in Clinton as the Lady Choctaws claimed a 59-54 victory. AUM won the first meeting between the two schools on Dec. 18, 2017 with a 60-57 decision.
• MC looks for its first win in the series with Union. The two squads met earlier this season in Jackson, Tenn., with the nationally ranked Lady Bulldogs staking claim to a 29-point win.
• Mississippi College's defense ranks second in the GSC in turnovers forced. The Lady Choctaws force an average of 19 turnovers per game. The Navy and Gold rank third in the conference in free throw percentage as the team shoots 71.5 percent.
• A pair of Lady Choctaws rank in the top 10 in the GSC in free throw percentage. Junior
Zariah Matthews leads the conference shooting 81.9 percent from the charity stripe this season and is 10th in free throws made with 59. Senior
Jamilah Sanders ranks ninth with a 74.3 clip.

Shanell Kitchens recorded her first collegiate block on Feb. 2 at Lee. With the rejection, every Lady Choctaw has recorded a block this season. MC blocked four of Lee's shots on Saturday led by
Kirsten Thompson with two.
Jamilah Sanders tied Kitchens with one. Thompson leads the team with 13 blocks followed by
Lauran Sheriff with 12.

Zariah Matthews leads Mississippi College in scoring this season with 10.6 points per game. A trio of Lady Choctaws are on the cusp of double figures.
Coco Hobson, who leads the team in rebounds with 6.9, is averaging 9.8 points followed by
Jamilah Sanders and
Lauran Sheriff with 9.5 points per game each.
• Former Mississippi College Sports Information Graduate Assistant Jacob Horton is the Assistant Sports Information Director at his alma mater Auburn University at Montgomery and is responsible for promoting the women's basketball program. He was pitcher for the Warhawks in his two seasons in Montgomery.
• AUM is comes to Clinton on Thursday riding a five-game losing streak following a 63-45 loss against West Florida on Monday, Feb. 4. Jessika Milton led the Warhawks in scoring with 12 points. Makaylla Bullard added 11 points. Victoria Morales grabbed a team-best 12 rebounds.
• Jordan Brewster leads the Warhawks in scoring this season with 15.4 points per game. Evelina Alveeva leads the Black and Orange with 8.0 boards per outing.
• Union enters the contest on Saturday riding a nine-game win streak. The Lady Bulldogs' only setback this season came on Jan. 3 against Lee University, 56-51.
• Morgan Martin leads a trio of Lady Bulldogs scoring in double figures this season with 16.2 points per game. Jada Smith sits second on the team in scoring averaging 13.8 points while Jada Perkins rounds out the group with 11.5 points per contest. Tiffany Rechis stands outside the double figure scorers with 9.1 points per game. Martin also ranks atop the team in rebounds with 9.1 boards.
Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students. MC recently finished their transition process back to NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference and will be competing for conference and national championships in the 2016-17 academic year.
