Men's Tennis Improves to 1-0 in GSC Play

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team picked up their first victory of the 2019 season and improved to 1-0 in Gulf South Conference play on Valentine's Day against Shorter University. The final score of the match was 7-0 in favor of MC. The Choctaws will improve to 1-1 on the year and the Hawks will fall to 2-2.
The clean sweep for the Choctaws began in doubles action as the teams of Shane Samyn and Max Niles, and Brady McDaniel and Ben Jarvis picked up victories 6-3 and 6-1 respectively giving MC the doubles point.

The Choctaws winning continued in singles action as Samyn, Niles, McDaniel and Jarvis all won in straight sets. Maksyn Konovalov and Francois Le Tallec also picked up straight set wins for the Choctaws on the afternoon giving MC the clean 7-0 sweep.

The men's team will be back in action tomorrow Friday Feb. 15 as they travel to Arkadelphia, Ark to take place in the Ouachita Baptist Invitational, their first match in the tournament will be against the host, Ouachita Baptist, and is scheduled to start at 5:00 P.M.
