Men's Tennis Drops Season Opener to Jackson State

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team suffered an opening night loss to NCAA Division I opponent Jackson State University with a final match score of 3-4 in favor of the Tigers. With the loss the Choctaws will fall to 0-1 and the Tigers will improve to 2-12.

In doubles, MC was able to grab the early 1-0 lead when the teams of Maksyan Konovalov and Francois Le Tallec, and Shane Samyn and Max Nilges were able to capture victories in their first matches of 2019 getting the Choctaws the point.

In singles action, Le Tallec stayed hot and picked up a quick victory for MC and Shane Samyn was also victorious winning in straight sets. The turning point of the match was the Tigers late rally to win the last three singles matches and complete the come from behind victory.

 The Choctaws will return to action on Thursday Feb. 14 when they host Gulf South Conference Shorter at the MC Tennis Complex. Match time is set for 2:00 P.M.
