CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team will welcome the Tigers of the University of West Alabama to Dickins-Scoper Stadium this weekend for a three-game Gulf South Conference series, beginning with a single game on Friday, April 20 at 4:00 p.m., and a double-header on Saturday, April 21 beginning at 1:00 p.m.

STORY LINES AND NOTES
In their most recent work, the Choctaws (26-11, 15-7 GSC) dropped a midweek match-up with #15 Arkansas-Monticello on 10-5 on Tuesday, April 17.Â

The Choctaws need just one win this weekend to clinch a spot in the GSC Championship Tournament for the second consecutive season. The Choctaw sit in 5th place in the GSC Standings heading into the series.

The Choctaws are hitting .324 as a team, led by
Blaine Crim's mark of .388 that ranks fourth in the GSC. Crim also paces the Choctaws offense in hits (57), home runs (8) and RBIs (45).
Billy Cameron (.373) and
Luke Yancey (.368) mark for two other Choctaws hitting above the .350 mark for the seaon.Â

Chris Crosby (4-3) has posted a team-best 63 strikeouts in a team-high 64 innings pitched.
Hunter Mullis (5-2) paces the Choctaw staff, with five wins on the season.

Ryan Lane and
Austin Chastang have combined for seven of the Choctaws 11 saves on the season. Chastang's opponents' batting average of .206 marks for the team low.

West Alabama (18-21, 11-12 GSC) comes into the series winners of their last four games. The Tigers took down Miles College 11-4 in their most recent work on Wednesday, April 18.
The Tigers took all three games from Union University in their most recent GSC series in Livingston, Ala. this past weekend.
The Tigers come into the contest hitting .253 as a unit, led by Joel Murphy (.317) and Dominique Dawson (.304). Ben Dalke's five home runs and 29 runs driven in both mark as team highs.

J.T. Salter paces the Tiger pitching staff, with highs in wins, (5) strikeouts (95) and innings pitched (67), while also ranking atop the GSC in complete game-efforts (5). Reliever Nick Rathe boasts a team-low 2.21 ERA on a Tiger staff that currently sports a team ERA of 4.46.
